But there was definitelyroom for improvement where this second album's production standards wereconcerned, and so 'sfirst noteworthy - and quite possibly lasting - impression wasinfusing a punchier mix, and crunchier metallic thump into new numberslike 'Black Castle,' 'The Final Sin,' and closing instrumental'Beyond.' - all of which also revealed some welcome self-editing, ascompared to that first album's lengthy excursions. Unfortunately, withthe exception of primary highlights like the uncommonly energetic 'ItCame Upon the Night' and the uncharacteristically mellow 'Beneath theFading Sun,' simply lack as many compelling riffs, overall, as its predecessor.
