Dell only supportsWindows XP and Windows Vista. The ACPI error is caused by the AMD Away feature that Dell implemented for Windows XP and Windows 7 does not support that feature. Microsoft Acpi Driver Windows 7
Somewhere on the internet I found a package that set the device to null, but you the4n get a message in Windows 7 telling you the AMD Away is not supported in Windows 7. I found this several months ago when I was upgrading a Dell 531 for my aunt.I have looked around for the info but have been unable to locate it again. The error could also be stopped if someone changed the flag in the BIOS.
On the system I was working on there was no option to disable the AMD Away feature. So Dell screwed up when they programmed the BIOS with the AMD Away feature permanentlyenabled. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
